RYAN AEROSPACE has disrupted the simulation industry with its smaller footprint, lower cost, MODULAR flight simulation solutions. The new Generation 2 Immersive Training Device (ITD GEN2) has taken the technology a step further to take advantage of higher fidelity mixed reality training requirements. Its modular design comprises a base model with:

• Ejection-styled seat - electrically adjustable (up, down, tilt base, tilt backrest, forward and aft). This is extremely important to get the pilot's eye-point in the exact design position. For example, eye position relative to the Heads Up Display (HUD) is very important and now achievable with the ITD GEN2. The seat can even be tilted ~30 degrees backward for F-16
• Joystick and joystick base. Control loaded joystick with up and down adjustment control. Fits a number of joystick bases. Control grips are also modular
• Rudder pedals. Control loaded rudder pedals with toe brakes and electric adjustment of 150mm (~6in) forward / aft movement
• PC server rack mount under seat with built-in cooling system
• Fully integrated cabling

Aircraft-specific Main Instrument Panel (MIP) and Side Panel Pods are then easily added to the base module at a level of fidelity required for the training requirement. Pictured below is the ITD GEN2 in a T-38 variant being used by the US Air Force for Fighter Bomber Fundamentals Training (Virtual Training for Air Dominance).

RYAN AEROSPACE has developed a unique quick-release system using cam locks. This allows customers and users to choose aircraft-specific side panel pods and main instrument panels. Each of these components have fully integrated power and interface systems making them virtually independent of the main base so they can even be hot-swapped out in just a few minutes.
