Compliance Engineer
TENURE: Full time (38hrs per week)
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
MANAGES STAFF: Nil direct reports but will be required to work with a multi-discipline team internally as well as with external partners and contractors, potentially providing support and supervision to 1-2 staff.
REMUNERATION: $105k - $125k dependent on skills, qualifications and experience
Position overview
RYAN AEROSPACE is an innovative, dynamic, international award winning business. We build flight simulators for world's biggest military organisations and we're looking for a like-minded and skilled technician to join our team on the Gold Coast.
This role will see you working in a modern, well-appointed factory on the Gold Coast ensuring products and operations meet statutory safety, industry, and environmental regulations. You will conduct technical assessments, manage risk, prepare documentation, and secure global certifications required for our flight simulator devices. This includes sub-components such as multifunction displays, simulated avionics units, flight controls, as well as third party and commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
Largely, it will involve working with our electronics systems engineer, mechanical and design engineers, to ensure designs are produced and tested to appropriate standards and regulations with regular reporting to senior leadership. The role will also require electrical systems design, load testing and certification. You will be responsible for creating schematics, selecting components, documentation and technical files, as well as involvement in project technical consultations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance:
- Evaluate products against local and international standards such as CE, UKCA, FCC, RCM etc. using internal pre-compliance testing and external third-party testing providers.
- Coordinate EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), RF (Radio Frequency), and safety testing protocols.
- Evaluate product materials against environmental directives such as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and regulations such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).
- Implement and monitor risk control frameworks.
- Prepare all relevant documentation including Declarations of Conformity, technical assessment reports, and product lifecycle documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to resolve compliance gaps.
Electrical:
- Design of simulator electrical systems for international multi-voltage use, ensuring regulatory compliance, testing and documentation.
- Production of engineering drawings, schematics and BoM (Bill of Materials).
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure customers’ requirements are met.
Quality assurance and testing:
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. RYAN AEROSPACE is an ISO 9001(2015) certified company.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Industry experience is also very important.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and product lifecycle processes.
- Experience developing and testing products to international standards, namely CE and UKCA certification.
- Experience completing EMC testing protocols as well as electrical safety testing including Hi-Pot, Earth/Ground Bond, Insulation Resistance and Earth Leakage.
- Excellent technical writing, advanced project management, and strong analytical capabilities.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) – experience with the PCBA process and/or an understanding of the data required by manufacturers to manufacture and assemble PCBs.
